If you're running a Shopify store, you already know Shopify Flow—it's the automation backbone that lets you build if-this-then-that workflows across your store operations. Today, we're bringing Shymo directly into that ecosystem with our native Shopify Flow integration.
This means you can now trigger SMS messages, add subscribers to segments, and launch Shymo automations from any Shopify Flow workflow—without leaving your Shopify admin, writing any code, or building duplicate logic in two separate tools.
What Is Shopify Flow?
For the uninitiated: Shopify Flow is a visual automation builder available on Shopify Plus (and recently, on Advanced plans too). It lets you create workflows based on triggers (something happens), conditions (check if criteria are met), and actions (do something).
Examples: when an order is placed, check if it's over $200, and if so, tag the customer as "VIP." When inventory drops below 10 units, send a Slack notification. When a customer is tagged, add them to a marketing segment.
It's powerful, flexible, and already central to how most Shopify merchants run their stores. The missing piece was a direct connection to their SMS channel. That's what this integration provides.
How It Works
Once you install the Shymo connector in your Shopify Flow library, you get access to three new action types:
- Send SMS via Shymo: Send a specific message (or trigger a Shymo flow) to a customer. You can use Shopify's template variables (customer name, order number, product name, etc.) directly in the message body.
- Add to Shymo Segment: Add or remove a customer from a Shymo segment based on any Shopify trigger. This keeps your SMS segments perfectly in sync with your store data.
- Trigger Shymo Flow: Kick off any existing Shymo automation flow for a specific customer. Useful when you've already built sophisticated multi-step sequences in Shymo and want Shopify events to trigger them.
All three actions pass customer data (phone number, name, email, order data, tags) seamlessly between Shopify and Shymo. No CSV exports, no manual syncing, no API keys to manage.

High-Value Order Thank You
Trigger a personalized thank-you text for high-value orders. "Hey {name}, thank you for your order! As a VIP customer, here's 10% off your next purchase: THANKYOU10"
Auto-Segment by Customer Tag
When your loyalty program or support team tags a customer as VIP in Shopify, they're automatically added to your Shymo VIP segment for exclusive SMS campaigns.
Refund Follow-Up
After a refund is processed, trigger a Shymo feedback flow: "Hey {name}, we're sorry things didn't work out. Mind sharing what went wrong? Reply to this text—we read every response."
Repeat Customer Reward
Automatically recognize and reward customers after their third purchase with an exclusive offer via text.
Fulfillment + Cross-Sell
After an order is delivered (with buffer time), trigger a Shymo flow that recommends complementary products based on what they purchased.
Setup Guide
Getting started takes about 5 minutes:
Install the Shymo Connector
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps → Shopify Flow. Search for "Shymo" in the Flow connector library and click Install. Authorize the connection with your Shymo account.
Create a New Workflow
Open Shopify Flow and create a new workflow. Choose any trigger (order created, customer tagged, inventory changed, etc.). Add conditions as needed.
Add a Shymo Action
In the action step, select Shymo from the app list. Choose your action type: Send SMS, Add to Segment, or Trigger Flow. Configure the message or select the Shymo flow to trigger.
Test and Activate
Use Shopify Flow's built-in testing to simulate the trigger and verify the Shymo action fires correctly. Once confirmed, turn the workflow on. It runs automatically from there.
What You Can Build
The real power here is combinatorial. Shopify Flow gives you access to hundreds of triggers and conditions across orders, customers, inventory, fulfillment, and more. Shymo gives you the SMS actions. Together, the possibilities are vast:
- Send a thank-you text only to first-time customers who spent over $100
- Add customers to a "Win-back" segment when they haven't ordered in 90 days
- Trigger a re-stock notification flow when inventory for a popular item crosses a threshold
- Send a review request SMS 7 days after fulfillment, but only for orders above $50
- Remove customers from promotional segments when they request a refund
- Alert your best customers via text when a new collection drops, before email goes out
The integration is available today for all Shymo customers on any plan. Shopify Flow is available on Shopify Plus and Advanced plans. Head to your Shopify Flow settings to install the Shymo connector and start building.
